THE OAKLAND A’S ACCOMPLISHED A FEAT ONLY FOUR TEAMS IN THE HISTORY OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL HAVE ACCOMPLISHED – WINNING THEIR RESPECTIVE DIVISION AFTER BEING BEHIND 13 GAMES. NFL: JETS’ HOLMES OUT FOR SEASON

NEW YORK JETS STAR WIDE RECEIVER SANTONIO HOLMES, WHO WAS INJURED IN THE JETS 34-0 LOSS TO THE 49ERS, IS OFFICIALLY OUT FOR THE SEASON. HOLMES SUFFERED WHAT IS KNOWN AS A LISFRANC FOOT INJURY ON THE FIRST PLAY OF THE 4TH QUARTER ON A RARE COMPLETION FROM MARK SANCHEZ. HOLMES FUMBLED THE BALL ON THE PLAY DUE TO INJURY, WHICH WAS RETURNED BY THE 49ERS FOR A TOUCHDOWN.

THE INJURY IS THE SECOND SEASON-ENDING INJURY FOR A JETS STAR PLAYER IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. ALL PRO DARELLE REVIS, CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE THE BEST CORNERBACK IN THE NFL, WAS LOST FOR THE SEASON TWO WEEKS AGO, WITH A KNEE INJURY. THE JETS SIGNED WR JASON HILL, WHO PREVIOUSLY PLAYED WITH THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS AND SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS.

MLB: YANKEES & ORIOLES BATTLE FOR DIVISION TITLE

THE NEW YORK YANKEES TAKE ON THE BOSTON RED SOX TONIGHT AT YANKEE STADIUM IN THE FINAL GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON. THE YANKEES, WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A SWEEP, CAN CLINCH THE DIVISION TITLE WITH A WIN TODAY OR A LOSS BY THE BALTIMORE ORIOLES. THE UPSTART ORIOLES WILL PLAY IN THE RUBBER GAME AGAINST THE TAMPA BAY RAYS DOWN IN TAMPA.
